The purpose of a manual transfer switch is to manually transfer power to a backup power supply. Its most common application is switching power from a backup source to the load during a utility power failure.
When properly installed, the manual transfer switch provides a convenient way to switch the load to the backup power supply in the event of a failure of the primary power source.

3. The manual transfer switch is operated via a handle directly attached to it. Models rated 16 to 63 amps can be snapped onto DIN rails, with the front fitting a 45mm consumer unit cutout.
